Fiesta Finale

As I mentioned before, I wish we had attended more Fiesta events. Because I work in Austin, apparently not all cities are aware of SA's schedule, the majority of my week was dominated. Another reminder of why I must win the lottery! Enough that I had to miss the Battle of the Flower's Parade and NIOSA last week.

However, on Sunday afternoon my precious friend Julia had us over to her parent's house to celebrate the end of Fiesta. This was a relaxing evening with friends, amazing food, and fun. I use the relaxing in reference to describing everyone else; Laney was a bit dramatic with skinning her knee and then her toe but we still had a blast!!! Thank heavens for cascarones!

Laney gravitated to the confetti filled eggs upon arrival.

As soon as we got there Laney had to crack an egg on her Momma. She loves these so I hope the Easter bunny brings her some. I know that we will have a yard full at the ranch for Easter.

Buddies--Leni and Landry are too cute together. They migh hit, bite, and hug but they really are adorable to watch. I love it that they are so close in age!
Laney was cracking an egg on Landry's head. I don't think that Landry really knew what she was doing but she did not like the confetti too much.

Our pals the Hargesheimer's and Garza's. Beautiful people inside and out.

Pooch Parade

The AH Pooch Parade Fiesta event was, by far, the most enjoyable for the girls. I cannot tell you how many different types of dogs we saw and the squeals that followed from our children! I think Landry might have had the most fun; she was all smiles and talking in gibberish to the animals. We are going to have to get a pup at some point. I could not handle another responsibility right now but one of these days. Deciding what kind of dog will be the hard part!

It was our 3rd time to attend the Pooch Parade and we are in the ideal spot for it in AH. We simply walk down the street and park our lawn chairs/stroller and just wait. Laney's buddy, Elissa, was having a Fiesta party that we went to for a little while also.

The girls were waiting on the puppies as they approached....

The River Parade

We also attended the 2011 Texas Cavaliers River Parade this year for FIESTA. We were able to get tickets through Matthew's firm and sat right on the River walk in Downtown SA with the Santoyo's. The parade was wonderful, although I missed Eva Longoria! I did see our neighbors, a previous Queen, and that was really neat for the girls. Laney believes she lives next door to a truly real Princess.

The parade and event was quite crowded and Matthew and I split up for a little while. He took Landry to eat and I took Laney to get her face painted. It was her first time to do this! I kind of assumed she would be hesitant and just want a small flower or balloon. We waited in line for quite some time and eventually we made our way to her turn. She had strawberry lemon aid to keep her distracted.

Landry and her first popsicle of the evening.

The face painter asked Laney what she wanted painted on her face. Laney responded "a kitty cat". Then she proceeds that she wanted it to be pink! Well, the lady asked if she wanted it on her cheek or all over her face. Without hesitation Laney's response "My whole face" as she points with her finger in a circular motion at the diameter of her face.

Here we go....I'm kind of freaking out at this point.

Ta Da! Laney taking a peak at herself. At this point Matthew had found us and saw the pink kitty. He too was surprised. Laney was very serious and we had a hard time washing her face off when we got home.

This is my favorite picture because I know that Laney look. She was proud and coy in the same moment. She loved being a pretty in pink kitty cat!

I just love what Landry is doing with her mouth in this picture with Daddy--too cute!

Watching the parade and taking in all of the floats. Landry joined in with the waving as the different ones went by.

We stayed a little later than planned but the girls were having a lot of fun.

Fiesta 2011 Begins

Fiesta just ended this past weekend but I want to share some of the thing the Crowell Crew did this year for San Antonio’s celebration! What is Fiesta you might ask or wonder? I did too a couple years ago and now I embrace the time of color, smiling, queens, and flowers. Well, San Antonio started FIESTA in 1891 as a one-parade event. This has now turned into a huge festival and celebration of the city with over 100 events over a period of ten days. We weren’t able to participate in as much as I would have liked, as it was quarter close for me at Whole Foods, but it was still a wonderful time to spend with friends and family.

We started our Fiesta Activities with Alamo Heights Night.

Landry and Laney were super excited about FIESTA. Clearly. At least they look festive. Once we arrived and everyone was situated I think the girls had a great time...

Laney loves cotton candy as does her Momma. This might have been the culprit to her getting sick Friday night though.

Waiting in line with Daddy to do the bounce house and Laney was uber excited.
Landry was content watching her big sister have a blast bouncing around!

We found one of the high jump mats for Landry to play on since the rides weren't for toddlers. She had fun just running away from us! Matthew took one side and I took the other so she couldn't escape.

 I gotcha Landry Lou!

Laney climbed this blow up slide and slid down about ten times. She had a wonderful time and there is a lot of energy in that little girl. Her smile makes my heart so happy.

That was our first event for FIESTA and it wore me out. Crowds of people--well--I'm not a huge fan. But we had fun with the kids and I'm glad we participated.

Much more to come....
