Happy Heart Day at AHUMC

Happy Valentine's Day! I went to Laney's class to celebrate with her. On the way to school she asked me to go to school with her for her party.  I hadn't planned on attending. She got choked up and begged me to go. It was the sweetest request and, of course, she didn't have to ask twice. I think she was sleepy, hence the tears, but none the less I made it.

Let's talk about how precious Britton is smiling for the camera! He is the most well mannered, polite little boy and good buddies with Laney. Britton always asks where Landry is if she isn't present; sweet little man.

The kids all handed out Valentine's to their classmates in their own bags. They all oohed and ahhhed over the ones they received.

Here are the Valentine's we did the night before and then Laney handing them out.....

Decorating their Valentine cookies!

When I picked up Landry she too had her own Valentine. Awww. My heart beats. I might be a scrooge when it comes to this faux created holiday, really I am, but not when it comes to my girls!

Yee Haw Cowgirls!!

Yee Haw!
Today at MDO was a visit from Cowboy Kevin and the girls were able to wear their "5 gallon hat" and handkerchiefs to celebrate his visit!  I'm not quite sure how Laney knows the term 5 gallon hat, maybe her Daddy? But the girls certainly fought over who got to wear it!
Thus, they took turns wearing the hat.

The girls were both excited to go to school, not a rarity, but they aren't usually all smiles at 8 am.

I really love how Laney is holding onto Landry in this picture. Sweet girls.

Since school, we've been playing with Jesse and Woody from Toy Story and riding Rody. Living the Cowgirl Dream!

Holiday Program at AHUMC

This year was my first time to attend Laney's Christmas Program. I would usually have to miss this due to work in Austin. But this year I was able to go!! I had no idea what I was missing. It made me very sad to think that I hadn't been to Lanes Christmas program in years past and very thankful I could go this year.

The children in the Pre K classes narrated the nativity scene and Jesus' birth. The children were dressed up as angels, cows, sheep, shepherds, and then of course the wise men, Mary, and Joseph. This was the sweetest reminder of the true celebration and meaning of Christmas.

And, shockingly, I got the times mixed up and thought that we were allowed into the program at 10:30 to find seats but in fact the program started at 10:30. I found myself in a scramble. I momentarily went crazy and decided to grab Landry from school a little early to watch the  program with me. So little-Lou-who got to sit with Mommy during the program and cheered chanted for Laney almost the entire time.

Almost. She kept herself busy though with my being well prepared.

Did I mention that I forgot my long lens to my camera? Well, I took the best pictures I could but they are from farrrrr out since my seat was not anywhere near the stage.

The pictures don't do justice to the production that the teachers and children put on. I wish I had a video of the sweet songs and musical words from these children. What a wonderful program and I'm so happy I was able to make it to see my Laney!

Laney's Holiday Party

The holiday month of December remained busy! We had Laney's Christmas party at school on Monday the 11th. Elizabeth and I were in charge and it was a lot of fun feeding these little ones their Christmas lunch at school. What a precious group of little children. I've really grown fond of this group of kids and their Momma's over the past few years. We've really enjoyed AHUMC MDO program and all of the people we've met through school.

The holiday menu included:

Chick-Fil-A Nuggets
Strawberries and Grapes
Cheese Cubes
Carrot Sticks
Juicy Juice Fruit Punch
Sugar Cookies (courtesy of Sara Sharpe from the cookie party!)

We decorated little Santa's with a graham cracker, pink frosting for the hat, marshmallows for the beard, a gum drop for the nose, and cinnamon dots for the eyes. Very cute activity that the children seemed to enjoy eat as they decorated!
