44 Degrees

Ironically, 44 has always been my favorite number. And the only valid reason I can give is it is a recurring sequence of digits that I have seen for as long as I can remember. Random; I know. However, 44 degrees was the temperature this morning when I was en route to the Girl Scout 10 miler, so I wasn't in shock. A cold front had swept through Austin last night and the wind/temperature allowed for challenging conditions at 7:30 am. I finished 197/1300 and actually ran my average miles faster than my previous 10k. It was the strangest and scariest course though. We ran on the new toll road Highway 45 (opens Nov. 1st) and over I-35. The best part of the race was the finish line. Not because I was done; well partially. But because Matthew, Landon, and Lauren were all bundled up cheering and waiting for me at the finish line. I couldn't decide if I wanted to cry or throw up because everything just hurt. So this next weekend; I'm going to have to go shopping and get prepared for running season in Texas's winter. In all actuality, 44 degrees might be ideal for a marathon.

My friend Rob did the Chicago marathon this Saturday in 33 degree weather. I haven't talked to him yet but I think he survived. :)
