Five Months Old

I recognize that I keep repeating myself, but already five months old? How does this happen? It seems like she has been a little person forever. At the same time, it seems she was just a newborn yesterday. Sometimes I feel Laney is very vulnerable and will want to be held and loved on. Then there are those times she just wants to play with her toys (or mine!) and is learning to enjoy her independence.

Look how big she is compared to her green lion now! Little playing on my laptop. She kept watching me work on my computer and then she'd go back to imitating what I was doing. At least that is what I'd like to believe. Laney is learning her numbers when her Momma works from home! And here she is deep in thought and concentration on her Daddy talking. Matthew will read his law school books to her and she just listens intently! I think her vocabulary will be hard for me to understand at this rate! Laney is really getting frustrated that she is not yet crawling but I don't think it will be too much longer. I plan on child proofing the house this weekend.
Last night Laney woke up at 3:00 a.m. wide eyed and bushy tailed ready to play and just giggling. I kept telling her that it wasn't time to get up yet but she didn't understand until 4:30. And no matter the time, I never get mad at her because waking up to giggling and baby noises is something I will always love and someday miss. I look forward to watching Laney grow into a little girl but this time is so sweet and innocent.
Also, we have been trying cloth diapers. One of my dearest friends uses them and is working on converting me. I think they are adorable and here is a picture of Laney in one. The deal we made is she will read the book "The Hidden Face of God" and I will try cloth diapers for a month. So far, they aren't bad but I could use some more since Laney seems to go the bathroom quickly after I put one on. They have the cutest names though including Fuzzi Buns, Bum genius, Happy Heiny's. I love Pamper's still but am keeping an open mind.

Before bedtime last night I held her close and rocked her while she slept peacefully. I wonder how much longer she will allow me to do this. Happy 5 Months Precious Little. You are growing into our perfect baby girl.

okay Laura, first ... yeah for 5 month marker!!!
now, tell me about those diapers? Where did you find them? Can you get the water hot enough to kill germs? I know that the disposables are FILLING our landfills, and are NOT biodegradable, but I had no idea they were doing cloth ones again. by the way, maybe now that Ellena is blogging she will post you guys some of our babies pictures on her blog... maybe??? Laney is adorable... such a smile! I'm serious about wanting to know more about the cloth! interesting how what we did 30 years ago (but even I threw away the cloth for disposable) is coming back. WE are in GREEN days!

I feel like these pictures really show her personality developing! She is so precious. Yeah, I'm not sure about the cloth diapers either, but I'm glad for "being green" sake they're making a comeback.

What a beautiful baby girl you have!!! She sure is getting big. I remember the aching in you heart you get thinking they're growing up so fast and you don't want to miss a minute! but it's so so fun at every stage! It's like they just keep getting cuter! Man!!
Cloth diapers, huh? I've always thought that would be hard. You need to tell me how they're going for you and if you can keep up with all the laundry... (actually I have no clue how they work, so, I guess I need a bit of an explanation!)
Anyway, cute pics!

Sounds like you were a miracle baby too! 2 1/2 months early! wow!

OH... 1 more Q. How do you change your background template w/o losing all your side things (widgets?)?

I love how Lainey has passed the stage of not smiling for the camera. She is just too precious. Friend, please tell me you have a diaper service.....
