Easter, Eggs, and Infections

We spent our Easter Weekend in Fredericksburg/Llano. Our weekend started off fairly eventful. It all began on Good Friday. I suppose it got interesting when Lesley got into town. Laney had a bug bite on her arm. Lindsay noticed it on Thursday but we didn't think much of it. By Friday, it was swollen and fire red. Friday evening, per Lel's professional instructions, I took her to the Alamo Heights Minor Emergency Room. Laney had a staph infection from this bite on her arm! The doctor told us he was going to drain it and proceeded to tell us how and that we were going to have to hold Laney down and blah blah blah blah blah. I just tuned out. I think I was in shock and to watch my precious baby girl have to go through that. Not fun. I know it gets much worse but it was pretty terrible on my scale of 1 to 10. And in the ten minutes before I was blissfully ignorant. This picture below was her bite the night before on her arm.
She is on two antibiotics and the infection seems to have cleared up. No fun. But she got an orange sucker! She loved this and kept telling us it was orange. My brave little girl.
Despite the start, we had a great Easter weekend! We got up on Saturday morning and had an Easter egg hunt in our backyard. We missed the daycare one and had a crazy one at our visiting church. It was non eventful though, as Laney got one egg. But the dying of the eggs with Lesley the night before and hiding them for Laney was a lot of fun! She caught on very quickly and we hunted to her hearts content! Um, the blue bandage looks like a sweat band but her arm was swollen for her size. Our preparation the night before (after the trauma).
The hunt begins:

* Can anyone tell her hair is getting blonder?! Craziness! Mine did this as a little girl but I was older I think. Matthews was pure blond always and she probably has Lel's hair too!

Saturday we headed to Llano/Fredericksburg. Let's stop here because I always say Llano; where M's parents live. But really, they are closer to Fredericksburg. But the zip code is Llano. Sorry; just a quick explanation. My parents headed in from Abilene, my brother from College Station, and Lesley and Andy Dallas. It is always such a sweet weekend with everyone.
We cooked out hamburgers Sat., introduced Andy to the ranch, took Laney to play at the park at my parents hotel, Laney had another egg hunt indoors, some of us rode in/on the tractor, drove the tractor, and what beautiful weather!

Easter morning in our dress!

I hope everyone had a Happy Easter!
I will post soon about the confetti egg brawl and the rest of our weekend at the ranch.....
