My precious baby girl,
You are truly the surprise of a lifetime (after being convinced you were a baby boy!). I am so glad you are who you are because I needed you! I remember on the day you were born thinking " I should have known you." You are absolutely different than your big sister and adorable in your own ways. The love I hold in my heart for you is special, true, and real and celebrating your 1st birthday was another wonderful memory we have.
The day you were born I fell in love all over again. I've learned that one of the most beautiful things in life is seeing your newborn baby for the first time. You took my breathe away and instantly brought tears to my eyes. One of the first attributes I noticed were your beautiful blue eyes and blond hair. I never thought I would be so lucky and have a light eyed blond headed little girl! Those peepers are still bright and blue and beautiful and your hair is growing blonder and longer by the day. I knew in my heart your name would be Landry.
And your sister, well, I know how lucky that both of you are. I am excited to watch your relationship grow into an untouchable friendship. The adoration that you have for Laney is sweet and pure and she shares the same affections for you. I never realized that the bond you would share could be so loving this early in life! The happiness that you two girls bring to me I am unable to justify in words.
I thank the lucky stars and the moon for you my Landry. The Lord must have known I needed another girl and I'm glad that He did. Happy Birthday Landry Anne!
Looking at you now, what a beautiful child you truly are and continue to be.
You were so happy! I think you knew that we were celebrating you on your special day. We had a simple celebration at the house with the birthday girl, Mickey, Lesley, Daddy, Laney and me! I looooove birthday parties (any kind!) but this was low key and mellow and perfect. I tend to stress over decorations and trivial matters so it was nice to be able to focus on the birthday girl.
The gifts and the decor....
I attempted to take a picture with Landry and my Laney, silly goose, had to partake in them!
The finishing touches and putting the icing for Landry's name on the cake.
Voila! Again, I'm not a baker and this might not be the prettiest cake to look at but as far as taste goes it was delicious! The recipe is from Matthew's Momma and has become my standard birthday cake. I will update my page tab to include the recipe soon.
Matthew took care of carefully placing the candles.
Before we even started singing, Landry clapped and clapped! She knows the drill....
The hat didn't last long but we had to get a picture in it.
Here we go, singing Happy Birthday to our Landry!
Landry just dug in. She knew she wanted that chocolate cake! I cut her out a nice big piece with the "L"!
She loved her sweet card from her Great Grandmother Ma.
She shared with Lesley some of her cake.
Landry finished all of the cake and made a royal mess. What a happy birthday girl!
