We had some more fun in the sun this past weekend with Daddy away in Las Vegas.
We had quite a busy agenda in fact!
We had quite a busy agenda in fact!
The day began with a two mile run/walk around the neighborhood. I always enjoy the relaxation the girls find in leaning back in the stroller and gazing at the world around. When I stop to do the same I usually hear a “run faster Mommy” or “why are you walking”? If only pushing 50 lbs was easy.
Then we planted some red geraniums, that Laney picked out, in our two front flower pots. Whatever I had planted before was snatched up in the freeze and didn’t make it to the spring. I’m reminded of my “Un”green thumb everytime I begin planting and Laney reminds me of the plants that have died in her lifetime. Still, I try. Our plan this coming weekend is to attempt planting a few vegetables and a mini garden.
I must admit, there is something therapeutic when you find your hands immersed in dirt and soil. At least in that moment when you are pressing the soil around plant.
Then I had to take a baby break and went and had an overdue mani/pedi. Amaris is a lifesaver and a blessing. I needed the foot massage more than words can say.
Movie Time. I had planned to take the girls to see Rango but heard that it had a few curses and wasn’t a children’s movie as much as it was geared to the adults. Well, I decided against that during the last minute. Instead we went to Mars Needs Moms. Apparently, I should have done my research on Disney’s recent release. About 5 minutes in Laney wanted to leave. She did not like the space scene and was scared of all the aliens. And why all children’s movies feel the need to have “sad” scenes, that could easily be left out, I can't figure out. These are children! And my daughter picks up on everything. And then there was Landry who was content eating all of the goodies I packed. Until she realized the arm rest would raise up allowing for an escape. Then she wanted all the way down the aisle from us to the other family sitting at the end. Or she wanted their food. Either way, she got about three seats down and went to sleep. The chaos of going to the movies with Team L. Although, the sweetest sisters these two are. Landry ended up crawling back over to us Laney and fell back asleep in her lap.
For dinner, I made chicken alfredo. The girl’s love noodles and when we get Italian food this is Laney’s favorite. Not Saturday night, she did not like Mommy’s alfredo. Neither did Miss Blue Eyes. I thought it was delicious! Maybe a little too much parmesan, which I only used half of what the recipe called for, but it wasn’t terrible. Oh well, might have to stick with mac and cheese for these two eaters.
We then crashed pretty early. Well, the little ones did and for us this is about 8:30 pm. I worked on some school and waited for M to get home. His flight was due in around 12 am but was delayed until 2:15 am.
Winding down the weekend, I had a soccer game with the Sun Devils on Sunday afternoon. I never expect Matthew to go with the two girls in tow. When I see other people taking kids to the games, well, I just don’t want the stress while playing. However, hearing Laney yell “go Mommy” “go Laura” and “run” was sweet and motivational. Landry after the game ran up to me as fast as she could. So my theory on the “stress while playing “may go out the window, I loved their sweaty little faces and loads of energy as I wanted to pass out from the heat.
There is a nice, little recap on how we spent our time in early April 2011.

Visiting from the Perkins Family Blog (but you also work with one of my best friends, Jen Vieiro) - just wanted to say that the picture of Landry asleep in Laney's lap is the cutest thing EVER!
