Precious Mothers

M and I headed to West Texas for Mother's Day this year. I presume this will become one of our family traditions. It was too perfect having my Momma, Virginia, and Dorothy...(oh yes and me!) all in the same place to celebrate together. We had Perini's for lunch and it was a simple and sweet weekend. I feel blessed to have had a lot of family time lately. As we grow older I realize how precious this time is. And being a mother made it priceless. And I learned from the very best! I love this picture of us when I was a baby. My Momma is a beauty! I find myself becoming more similar to my mother every day on the smallest things from how she keeps her purse filled to the brim, how she drinks her coffee, things I say, things I do; everything. And I absolutely love it.
For being a Momma I received my marathon running shoes, about 4 pairs of sandals from my mother, a shoe card from my sister.....shoes shoes shoes! And a very unique robe. My favorite part was the card Laney gave me. M and I love getting to do these and having Laney scribble/sign them. But what M wrote was perfect and just made me cry. Here is a glimpse into Laney's little mind:

Mommy,
I am so glad to have you for my mom. I love you so much because you take good care of me. You wake me up and put me to sleep. You dress me and feed me and clean me up. You take me running and now I love my stroller. Mostly when I cry it is because I want you to love on me. I am really excited about growing up and getting to tell you I love you. But I'm trying to tell you that already, that's why I learned to crawl, so I could follow you around the house. But don't worry, I will stay little for a while. Well I gotta go pull up on something. I love you Mommy. You are a great Mom and perfect for me.

Love,
Laney Kate (scribble scribble scribble)

Onto Little.......lots of kisses to herself always. I love those Laney open mouth kisses. And Laney met her first kitten! And this calico was certainly curious about Laney! I wish we could have kept her but I'm afraid Laney might accidentally squeeze or hit an itty kitty.
Laney's very own purse! She always tries to carry mine or puts her arms through the straps on big bags; we got her one for her things! Her new tongue thing. She is crazy about her tongue! She sticks it out and makes noises when people touch it! She loves it! It is flipping hilarious! I need to get it on video.

Being silly with Grumpy Gramps! This is what my Momma calls him and we tease but I guess it could stick! We will see what Laney says but I think it's really cute for my Daddy!

The three of us! Thank you Laney for making me such a happy Momma! I love having a day to celebrate with my Mother and now with Laney. And what a beautiful, sunny day it was.

Grand Finale leaving Abilene......"Look at me Momma!" Laney climbed up all by herself and I caught her as she lunged forward off the box. She is just simply into everything....
