Despite delays, I fell in love with the North East part of our country immediately. Whether it was the cooler weather, the kindness we found in all we met, or the broccoli shaped green trees scattered all across the land; I do not know precisely.
Anyway, story begins, after departing San Antonio we arrived in Baltimore, MD around 6:00 pm to catch our layover flight around 7:30 pm. Our flight had been delayed for 5 1/2 hours and was expected to leave at 12:45 am. AM people. We didn't even get mad. I know better at this point in my life (although it has taken some time to adjust) and kind of expect chaos. So we came up with a plan. A good one. We left the airport.
Instead of hanging around and reading our books we headed to the Inner Harbor. And I saw a side to Matthew, that after five years, I had never seen. He knew this part of the world from his days in DC and he got to show it to me. His favorite beer is Yiengling after all and not Miller Lite. Little did I know. And I liked it too. Shocking.
On the water at Inner Harbor after dinner. This guy started messing with my camera, changing the settings, and he was so disappointed he could not figure it out. I seriously need to take a class. I don't mind the quality though, I just want the memory.
We read all about Inner Harbor being one of the oldest seaports and the crown jewel of Baltimore. It is always fascinating to me when I have the realization at how much goes on all over the world all the time.
We spent a couple of hours before we headed back to get through security by 11 pm. Thank goodness for unexpected adventures.
