Habitat for Humanity was hot. hard. rewarding. work. We were able to do a lot for Miss Georgia's home and I am very proud of the team members at Whole Foods I work with. We had Operational Accounting, Internal Audit, and a few members of the Corporate G/L Team.
We divided up into several groups. The guys from Internal Audit James, Dan, and Brad were busy cutting.
Brad, Mike, and Julian worked on a deck and installing a window.
Sandra, Khadija, Emily, Debbie, and Rebecca worked on painting. In fact, they painted the side of the house twice. It looked like a lot of work!
We pulled off siding.
And tried to peak our head in to get some A/C.
Denae and I early in the day.
Siding is getting put up.
Voila! The window is installed.
It reminds me of this picture minus the danger.
The girls were wiped out.
After lunch, Window #2.
More Painting.
Adding more siding.
Taking a water break with my big old hat.
Sealing up the last window. Well, I'm not here in the picture but I promise I helped.
Time to go. The day actually kind of flew by. It was great to get out of the office and have this experience. I'm very pleased with the work that we were able to complete and the turn out. Everyone seemed to participate and added to the day's success!!
I learned so much too! I finally understood the verbiage: scoring, flush, drywall, tearing off siding, installing a window, etc. I know if Matthew had observed me on this day he would have been proud of his wife. Truly, I've not been this exhausted and am at a loss in comparison. I have a new found respect for manual labor and in the Texas heat too.
Disclaimer: I could totally build a house now. At least a side to a house or install a window or fix something.
